Does anyone know where I can get a much larger version of this photo from, if there is one?

Photo, not large though, of Laura CadmanCollapse )

I am going to be meeting Jaime Ray Newman next month in London at a signing event, however, they havn't mentioned Atlantis in their announcement post for her, and knowing them, I really dont trust them to have any atlantis photos to get signed, which means getting my own printed in 8x10 size.

The photo above would be perfect, however thats the only version/size I can find, which is no-where near big enough to get printed at 8x10 :/
From the mgm logo in the bottom corner, it looks like one of their promo photos which are usually quite large, so im assuming there must be a larger version somewhere?

Any help?

next Friday should be fun

What you probably already know:
Next Friday at 9pm the new season of Stargate Universe kicks off. It'll repeat at 11pm, as Syfy tends to do with everything, and several other times until the following Friday.

I'm giddy with anticipation...

What I've been wondering about since the 1st episode:
...because from the commercials I've seen I should finally get an answer to something that's been bugging me. Some of you may know something of this because you read the magazines and check out the fan sites that I do not.

During the pilot 2·part episode a lot of the views of what was going onboard the Ancient ship were from a downward angle. While this may've been due to the fact that they were just upping the mysterious creepy vibe, the impression I got was that something was already onboard and watching them.

This seemed to bore out given that at the end a small ship disconnected from Destiny (that's the name of the Ancient ship, right?) and flew away. At first I thought that might've been the shuttle the Senator died in but this looked to be a purposefully guided flight and that wouldn't've made any sense.

Something was onboard Destiny and it left because there were now people onboard the ship.

We've seen very little alien life so far in the 1st season. More the creature variety than anything you could hold up a conversation with or might shoot at you. Commercials so far show that there's gonna be a lot more of the higher end of alien life in what's to come this season. Daniel Jackson will have a more active role in the series, even if only for a single episode. A ship not unlike the one that left at the end of the 1st season come back and cuts its way in through the hull.

Hence the giddy.

It does sort of follow this had to happen eventually. You don't have a ship coasting around dropping off stargates willy nilly all over different galaxies unless someone's gonna be using them at some point...or folks already in the neighborhood might not find them advantageous.

Is it wrong I'm hoping one of the sentient aliens they cross paths with tries to eat them?

The Stargate Movie Campaign is currently holding a contest for a fan created, original, and official logo for the campaign. This will be used in just about every way we can--Tshirts, flyers, banners, websites, and the official mailing campaign that will start once MGM passes the Stargate franchise onto another company. We are also taking submission for banners and icons for the campaign. Come join the fight for the greenlight!

Anybody? Bueller? Hello?

2:50 AM 9/26/09 · As is so often the case, I don't uusally go researching a series until after it comes out and even then, mostly I just try and dope out what I can from what I watch. I'm not big with the fan magazines or the websites unless I'm looking for something specific...

...and that brings me to Stargate Universe.

I've been watching the Stargate series since I saw the original film in theaters WAY the fuck back when. Obviously there are vast differences between the movie and the first series, most notably the fact that Abydos was supposed to be outside the Milky Way galaxy but let's not dwell. What I'm more curious about is the gate on the ship in SG·U.

I've only got a loose concept of the shows concept. An ancient (haha) Alteran ship that may be involved in disseminating stargates to other locations, is discovered and a team and some other random people get stuck there. All well and good but the gate I keep seeing in the commercials is a little unusual...

...which may have something to do with the fact it seems to be an actually built in component of the ship.

The gates in the 1st series are similar to the one in the movie. The ones in Stargate Atlantis look the same as the ones in SG·1 excepting that the chevrons are blue instead of orange. The gate on SG·U doesn't seem to have chevrons, per se, and has more of a much more intricate spinning quality.

What I'd like to know, as spoiler free as you can manage, is if the gate in SG·U is significantly different than the others or if they did a major overhaul in stargate design for the series and they all have this new design now?

On a random note, do you think the whole 'SG' abbreviation is appropriate given that 'stargate' is a single word?

little stuff like this bugs me

5:18 PM 8/27/09 · When Teal'c first joins the Stargate SG·1 he refers to the aliens, that lord over his people as gods, as The Goa'uld; pronounced pretty much as it looks. The people of Earth, most notably Jack O'Neill, pronounce it as Goold...

...so why is it that the first time they're discussed on Stargate Atlantis, and the Earth team refers to them with the same usual mispronunciation, how is it Ronin Dex (a native of that other galaxy) pronounces it correctly when asking exactly what is a Goa'uld?

SG-1 Books

Hello everyone. I am back exploring the Stargate fandom after a long hiatus (I’m a one fandom at a time kind of girl) and was looking for some advice, I’m still not sure if this is the right place to try so I apologise in advance.

I want to start buying the SG-1 books but rather then getting them in release order I would just like to start with the best ones, particularly from a Daniel Jackson point of view, he’s my favorite character (I know, I know, how unoriginal).

So basically I want your opinions on the books, which ones were your favorites and why?

From the Daniel angle maybe share an overview of his scenes in a particular novel?

Any help will be greatly appreciated, along with any advice on other communities where I could post this request.
